Second Saturday Service

Beginning this past April, Unity Northwest Church launched a Saturday service on a monthly basis. The idea behind the service was to offer something that would be an alternative, not just in scheduling but in style and format. While still very new, the Second Saturday services have been well received.

The services have experimented with the order of service, and offer a more casual approach. The music has been up-tempo and geared toward the active participation of the congregation. The service also has incorporated audiovisual aids using PowerPoint to provide song lyrics, and as a tool to help deliver the lessons. One service has employed successfully the use of a skit, and more of this may be expected going forward.

The services are hosted by Licensed Unity Teacher candidates, Laurie Geschrey and Michael Korpan, both of which expect to be fully licensed this November. Their approach has been to be expressive, creative and to take some chances, but always while adhering to Unity principles.
