A LETTER FROM OUR BOARD

April 26, 2021

Dear Unity family,

You are invited to a beginning step of reopening! We know how much some of us can’t wait to get back together, and on Saturday, May 15 we can do just that. From 9 am to 12 noon will have our annual Spring Clean the Church event.  Come for any amount of time and help tidy our home. There are tasks for every age and skill.

At noon, we will then have a church picnic.  We encourage everyone, not just those who can help in the AM, to join us for this outside picnic.  Bring your own food, drink, mask, and chair and come see all the folks you’ve missed so much. It’s going to be a special day. Don’t miss it!

How much we look forward to being able to also see you on Sundays!  In March when COVID numbers were falling, the board was very optimistic about reopening mid or late June.  Then COVID numbers started rising again.  In the past few days they have started to fall slightly.  We pray that will be a trend.  The fact that so many of our congregants are being vaccinated is also wonderful support for a safe reopening.

The board is finalizing purchases of the technology needed to provide both live streaming and in person services when we are able to reopen.  We will need several weeks to practice effectively providing services to both "Zoomies" online and "Roomies" in person.  It is our expectation that when we do open the church, the youth program will also be available.  The Health and Safety team, along with the Board, will consider CDC Guidelines, COVID trends in our area, and Unity recommendations to inform our reopening decision.

As soon as we have a sense of timing to reopen for Sunday, we will let you know. We would like to offer other outdoor gatherings and are looking for volunteers to help with that. If you’d like to be part of supporting reopening, please contact the office. It’s going to take all of us to make it happen. In the meantime, we continue to offer so much to support you online.

Thank you so much for your understanding during this time. You are in our hearts always.

Blessings,

Board of Trustees

P.S. See you May 15!
